Welcome to the Heathfield Residents Association where you can find out what’s going on on our estate and give you all the information you need as a resident. If you’re thinking of moving to our peaceful but energetic community, come and get an insider’s view and see why Heathfield is such a great place to live!
Heathfield is situated very conveniently close to the M11, giving great access to Cambridge and London with a short drive to a number of train stations. Plus, we have the added bonus of being situated opposite Duxford Imperial War Museum, making show weekends a great view from most of the estate.
Heathfield is a private estate, meaning that it is not incorporated into the local Council. Neither the local council or district council maintain it and it is owned by the residents. With a few exceptions, all the owners of houses in Kingsway, Whitehall Gardens, Queens Row and Woburn Place are shareholders in the company (note, Woburn Mews is not part of HRA).
The houses on the estate were originally built as RAF married quarters in the 1940’s and early 1950’s. By 1983, being surplus to requirement, the Secretary of State for Defence sold the houses to the Blue Boar Property Investments Group, who has the responsibility to sell them privately. This is also the time that the ‘private’ estate found it necessary to form a limited company in order to manage it. Originally this was known as the Duxford Residents Association, which later (in 1987) became Heathfields Residents Association (HRA).
All aspects of the HRA estate management are run by a small group of resident volunteers who make up the committee as Board of Directors. The key responsibilities of the team are to look after the following:
